Surduk

Reconnaissance and small-scale archaeological research conducted in 1955 at the site of Gradina, located on the elevated bank of the Danube, revealed the remains of an early Roman settlement from the 1st century and a Roman military camp with a necropolis of the 2nd-4th centuries. Also, surface finds of Roman construction and other mobile archaeological material were found in the wider surroundings of Gradina. The ala I Augusta Ityraeorum, and in late antiquity the equites Dalmatae were stationed in the Rittium military camp.
